When looking to re-invigorate your sense of Britishness, try The Cotswolds to inspire you. There are many class hotels in the area and staying is a pleasure. It takes some local knowledge to get past the tourist veneer covering the area, but if you can you will be sure to enjoy things even more.
Whilst the obvious tourist attractions will always be on the surface, there are some tourist attractions worth a visit if you might otherwise miss them. In particular, the formidable Hidcote Manor Gardens at the top of Snowshill just outside Broadway are worth the effort.
